Fellow members:
I am truly humbled and
honored to serve as Chair of the Fishers Chamber of
Commerce for 2008. We have a great many things to celebrate from
the past, both as a chamber and as a community. This past year, we
received the highest accreditation from the US Chamber for our
efforts—five-stars—the first in Indiana to do so. That is as much
a recognition of your taking an active role as members as any
other factor. So, thank you for that. Also, our community
continues to be recognized for our quality of life and still grow
at an amazing rate. We are undertaking a special census because we
have grown so rapidly. And, the chamber continues to grow along
with our community. Not just in numbers—which we do—but also in
our programs and opportunities for members. So, we also have a
great many things in our future.
Last year, Cynthia
Hauth, our chair, said, “Success in building both business and
community comes from staying open to new ideas.” That is still
true today. In 2008, together we will continue to develop
innovative new programs, services and exposure opportunities that
meet the diverse needs of our businesses. To reflect that wide
variety of choices, we have restructured our membership model to
allow each member to choose the parts of chamber membership that
best fits his or her needs, whether it is networking
opportunities, recognition, or having a voice in legislative
matters.
Our councils are
re-energized for the new year and ready to go. I have made a
personal commitment to be more involved in all the activities by
attending each council at least once per quarter and I urge you to
be involved in a council. I would love to see you when I make my
visits.
Being involved, making
a difference, and taking an active role is why I belong to the
chamber. When you have a comment for me, please feel free to share
it. Whether compliment or suggestion for improvement, I promise to
carry it forward. I see my role as serving all of you and promise
to do my best to do so. Our nearly 900 members together can make a
big difference for every one of us.
Let’s all make 2008
the best year we can.
